On behalf of the family, we would like to thank you! Your staff was absolutely wonderful. We could not have asked for better care for our mother and grandmother in their final days. Everyone at your facility is very caring and compassionate. They were not only caring and compassionate to mom but also to all of us. The staff at Maison de Lafayette has made me believe in humanity again. Please keep doing a great job for all your residents there. Everyone looks very happy to be living there and that makes a great place for them to call home. Again thank you for everything you do for the people that they can no longer do for themselves. May god bless you!

- M. Domingue

Mom seemed very pleased at your facility. She's the one who chose to live there. I could never show the workers how much I appreciate the care and respect that they showed towards my mother. Also how all the residents made mom feel welcomed, is a memory that will stay in my heart always.

- L. Broussard

The nursing received was superb. There was immediate response to push the call button in urgent situations. The aides, dietary, and house cleaning personnel were terrific. There was a greeting of friendship and fellowship upon the entry of personnel. This kind of conduct by personnel made the resident feel special. I‘ll recommend Maison de Lafayette to anyone who is searching for an establishment that is dedicated to rehabilitation after surgery or senior care.

Team spirit par excellence! That’s what your staff has displayed in providing care for our mother. Making the decision to move our mother (with whom we reunited after 54 years, as we grew up in a foster home) from Beaumont to Lafayette was very difficult.

Mom was in a debilitated state, blind and illiterate. She was still grieving the sudden death of her youngest son and knew no one when she arrived at your facility. Since her arrival, we have noted a change in her attitude, a willingness to venture out of her room to make new friends, and a new joy in living.

The support that Dee Dee Fowler and Angelina (in social services) provided was exceptional! No matter how many times we called or dropped by their offices, they were so supportive and professional in their demeanor. Also, most importantly there was no smell of urine or feces in Maison de Lafayette that plague many nursing homes.

Mom truly loved the therapists in the rehab unit (PT department). They challenged her and this is what she needed. Selecting the proper staff to provide quality care is an arduous task, but somehow you have got this right!

From social services, nursing, housekeeping, and maintenance to recreational therapy, PT, CNAs, dietary, laundry, and beauty shop services - you have formed a good and caring team. Keep up the good work. You and your staff are commendable.

I cannot express in words my appreciation for the care that my mother received during her stay with you. Because of the distance between my home and Lafayette, I had to depend on so many of you to take care of her daily, and you came through for us. My weekly visits were always a treat not only to see her, but also to relate to the staff and other residents.

I must applaud nurses, CNAs, housekeeping, transportation, receptionists, bookkeepers, social workers, pt, wound care, beautician, and even other residents who were so kind and considerate. The offer of food was always special and the food was so good! Only in South Louisiana would a nursing home serve its residents that good shrimp gumbo!

Your staff was always responsive to my requests for information and I loved the calls with weight, medication, and care reports. Ms. Flo was so patient and kind to my mother and accommodating with my in and out time. Whenever I visited, it was always evident that this facility was clean and free of odors and that was very important to me.

If I named those who were helpful and kind, I would surely miss someone. But I do want to share with your staff one incident that was such a blessing to me. I had driven for 3 hours, spent 3 hours in the doctor’s office with mom in a wheelchair, and then been for 4 hours at the hospital. When the van driver (small young lady) came to Laf. General to pick mom up, mom was concerned about whether I was going with her or not. This little young lady looked at me and said, “We’re going to take care of her. The staff is waiting for her to come back. You go find your bed for the night.” I probably never got to say to her how comforted I was by those few words. This is just one of the examples.

I never expected that our experience with nursing home care would be of this quality. My thinking has been changed by my experience with this nursing home care, the residents who need that care, and the demands on the staff that provides the services. Thank you will never be enough. Special thanks to Selena for leading us to MDL.

Also, many thanks for your thoughtfulness in sending the beautiful plant for mom’s services.
